roadblock

In no way do I consider myself to be technologically inept. Quite the opposite actually, at least when it comes to computers. I do, however, seem to have a bit of a mental roadblock, no pun intended, when it comes to electronic navigation. I remember our friend Jason describing all that he and Gail had done to prepare for their San Blas to Australia trip, but when he tried to explain it to me, it just didn't sink in. Sorry Jason, it's…

soreness

I'm not going to lie... the first ride on our bikes was a tough one, as in, not a spec of flat ground. I'm expecting some cycling-induced muscle soreness later today, but that doesn't dissuade me. In fact, I knew it would happen. While we may have done some hiking here and there, and of course we all know that Rebecca is a workout animal, we haven't done any cycling since our trip up the mountain in the Galapagos, and that was…

Surprisingly, to me at least, the muscle soreness that I predicted yesterday didn't set in. And that's great, because it didn't hinder our second ride where we went searching for even more dirt tracks. Ultimately we found some, without any of the threatening Private Property - No Trespassing signs. These tracks took us through a large plant nursery, and alongside a ranch with plenty of frisky horses, and some stern-looking longhorn steer. Yes, I'm missing a helmet. That's on the shopping…

We used to joke about how the terrain in Grenada was uphill wherever we went. Now that we've been riding here for a few days, with all the wicked hills that we've found, it seems as if the area around where our daughter and her family live is entirely similar. I've come to learn that this area is quite popular with dirt bike riders, and that's apparent from some of the trails that we've come across. On the bright side,…

Exactly two months ago today I wrote a post focused on our great tent debate, as in, which tent should we choose for our cycling trip. As the post indicated, there are a ton of choices, each with a different size, weight, and cost. After comparing the specs for what seems like ages, and even getting our hands on a couple of different models at a local REI, we ultimately decided to order one from Tarptent, a smaller company which sews…
