With light winds forecast for the next few days, we can’t miss this opportunity to head a bit further south. This morning we’ll be jumping off for another 24-hour “sail.” Plan A will have us landing in Antigua and if we’re making really good time, we’ll just keep right on going until we get to Guadeloupe. Even if we do go to Antigua, our plan is to not clear in; we’ll just anchor to rest and then head on to Guadeloupe the next day. Grenada, we’re on our way!

Rebecca has decided that, because she is the stronger swimmer, she should take over the anchor-checking duties. In this case, she was also checking out the numerous conch below us, looking for dinner. Sadly they were all too young (we now know how to check).

We found our way to Andy and Cheryl’s as Mark suggested. Both owners came up to talk to us, the food was good and you can’t beat the view. Two thumbs up!

    Looks great there, as for the conch i have no knowledge of them so “i am green” how do you tell if they are the correct age or size & how the heck do you cook them ? like a lobster / cray fish ? . Hope you have the answer for us/ “me” on this one thanks

    • For a conch to be old enough, it needs to have a “well defined lip.” That sounds pretty vague but if you google it you will see some pics of what I mean. To remove the conch from the shell you hammer a small hole in between the 2nd and 3rd ring (of the spiral portion), insert a knife and cut the tendon holding the conch inside. All that takes some practice. You then can grab his “foot” and pull him out. You need to clean the conch after that, throwing away some of the non-edible parts. We found out the details in our fishing book but you can likely google that as well. With the few conch that we did acquire (all of which were too young we found out later), Rebecca made a raw conch salad with conch, peppers, onions, vinegar, hot sauce and perhaps some other stuff, I don’t know. It was tasty!

  3. If the people at the nude beach looked like the billboard it wouldn’t be so bad. The one time we’d been to a nude beach the great looking people were clothed and the nude people shouldn’t have been! =) Maybe a place like St. Martin is a little sexier?! LOL
