Shoal Survivor

When our PDQ 32 was put up for sale, it was pretty easy for prospective purchasers to visualize what they'd be getting. I had, after all, blogged about every single facet of that boat since the day that we took possession of her. As it so happens, our friend Drew, another avid blogger (who I have linked to dozens of times), and regular contributor to Practical Sailor and other nautical magazines, has just listed his PDQ 32/34 for sale. I'm…

Since we crossed the Mexican border at Tecate, we've been compiling a bunch of video footage from our Baja Divide trek. Although it takes some time and effort to shoot it all, we know that it'll be a great reminder for us when we've completed the section. And to be completely honest, it also gives us a nice excuse for a rest. :) Although our intent was not to publish any of the footage until we had completed the entire…

35

35. That was the magic number yesterday. 35 steps and then rest. 35 five steps and then rest. That was how we made it to the top of Otay Mountain. When we weren't counting steps, we were playing other mind games like push the bike to the next post, or to the second bush, or to the corner. With much regret, due to a terminal health issue, we must put her up for sale. In May of 2017, Forever was in Martinique when one of the owners developed severe health issues and had to be flown back to the states. Forever returned to Grenada, was placed…

go first

When it comes to an entire day airline travel, I don't know if our trek from Martinique to LA could have been too much better. We started off the journey by being ferried to the Fort de France airport by our friend Steve, which was much better than taking the taxi as we had initially planned. Our connections worked out perfectly, our flights were on time, and in fact, I think we may have even arrived in LA ahead of…

miss

For years after we left Canada, whenever the subject of our pre-cruising life was brought up, we'd have friends and acquaintances ask us if we missed running our gym. Even though we accumulated countless positive memories from the years and years that we did so, and most certainly do miss the martial arts training itself, we do not miss operating the business. Nor do we miss running charters, in spite of the positive memories that we took from that too.…
