Only a masochist would buy a boat only to continually spend money on repairs and fix things. I would assume that most people, like us, get involved with boating to enjoy themselves with friends and family, in enjoyable locales. So, with the windlass finally wired up and working on Friday, and having picked up our visiting friends at the airport, we suspended all further boat work and headed off for the weekend.

We spent the first night at Kerr Bay and then decided to head out on Saturday for Waupoos. The very light winds weren’t cooperating though so we made an on-route course change and headed to Prinyers Cove instead. This turned out to be a great decision as a number of our friends from the marina were there for the weekend and we were able to spend some fun times with them too.

The water really wasn’t all that bad!

  1. Nice to see you guys enjoying the boat……Just a question….Would the water up in your neck of the woods still be a bit cold………I would only jump in if I really needed to bathe and had a wet suit on……How did the windless work……..

    • Hey John

The truth is the top two feet of water wasn’t really that bad. Once we started stirring it up a bit though it got a bit chilly. We were in and out pretty quickly.

As for the windlass, it rocks! 🙂

  2. I am very jealous. I just checked our water temperature. Here at the dock, it is a balmy 51 degrees. Getting in the water is something I dread.

Mike, surely that’s not you, the celebrated non-swimmer, diving off the coach house roof?!
Those swimming lessons must have been REALLY good! 🙂

  4. I was just thinking… I bet that water is FREEZING.
