  1. Task completed!

    Every little bit helps, right?

Why is it that donating to schools in the Caribbean seems so rewarding, yet donating to the schools in the States feels like throwing good money after bad?

Maybe because in the Caribbean an education is a gift to be treasured, and in the States it’s just another entitlement?

  2. Speaking of education, can I go back and spell check that last post? 🙂

  3. Thanks for sharing this Mike. We first heard about Hands Across the Sea last year at the Annapolis Boat show. It was started by a cruising couple who wanted to make a difference. I also love that fact that they do the research to get the right books to the kids – new, appropriate books that they will actually read. Living in the Caribbean, we have come across a lot of people who are illiterate. It can be self-perpetuating. Such a shame. Offering this trip is our way of trying to make a difference.

  4. FYI, the info page you link to above tried to insert 2 chrome browser extensions to hijack my browser search.

  5. oh I hope I win!!! 🙂 well even if I don’t, it’s a good cause 🙂
