We’re anchored at the World’s End, or pretty close to it, according to our chart. After sailing by the Tobago Cays on a couple of separate occasions, we finally made it here. In actual fact, we’re anchored almost exactly where you can see the little green anchor symbol on the chart, behind Horseshoe Reef, with pretty much nothing east of us for about 2600 miles!

The reef is not doing such a great job of breaking up the wave chop right now but we’re putting up with the uncomfortable motion because of the beauty of the surroundings. We snorkeled a bit yesterday and the coral and fish are every bit as beautiful as we had been led to believe they would be. Our friend Donna said that she actually had a shark swim underneath her yesterday. Having never seen a shark while swimming in an uncontrolled environment, I’m pretty sure that both Rebecca and I would have been just as freaked out as she was. We’re planning on hanging out here another day before moving down to Union Island to clear out of the Grenadines. Today I think we’ll do a bit more hiking and go swim with some turtles!

As you might imagine, internet access at the “end of the world” is pretty sketchy. My post the other day seems to have elicited quite a few comments and I look forward to responding to them when we get a better signal.

  1. Fantastic spot indeed!
Did boatboy Sidney find you yet? Or does he stay away from cruisers, only hitting on the charters instead?

Enjoy the worlds end, dont think we knew why it was named that when we were there in 08. Must have missed that in the cruise guide.

    • We did not meet Sidney although we did meet Romeo and another guy selling bread. The boat boys are smart to avoid us. There is much more money to be made from the charter boats.

  2. Sounds so exotic … and beautiful! Looking forward to pictures when you have signal .. enjoy!
