One of the things that I wrote about wanting to learn was fire dancing. I have been teaching myself and during our visit to Dominica, I got a chance to dance with fire!

As I reflect back on all of the things that I have accomplished over the years, I think I have every right to be proud. In addition to some non-active achievements, I have been successful at a variety of sports and activities. I was, however, never really interested in giving up all of the things that I enjoy simply to try to become the greatest at only one thing.

I love to undertake new challenges and build on my list of exploits. I think that many opportunities are passed up by those who don’t ever make the time to experience new things because they are so wrapped up in their present interest(s). I’m not saying they should give up what they are doing, especially if they enjoy it; however, by not trying something new, they may never experience what may end up being equally as enjoyable or perhaps even more so.

Goals. There is no end to the amount of things you can accomplish.

I do miss the activities that I enjoyed doing prior to cruising that I am not able to do on a regular basis now (skiing, Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing). It has taken me some time to realize that it’s not necessary to stress about the fact that I don’t get to do these things as often as I did in the past. I know I can still do them albeit less frequently. Now I am building on my list, encountering new interests, tackling new challenges and experiencing as much as I can!

If you were to take the time to make a list of the things that you have experienced, would it be very long? What about the new things you have experienced within the last year? If neither of these lists are very spectacular, wouldn’t it be nice to do something about it? Find something new to try. Life it too short to not experience the great many things it has to offer. Think of your life as if it were a book with each new thing experienced as a new chapter. Create a life that is distinctive from others’ so that your life story is original. Dare to explore new paths and see where they will lead you!
