It has been 3 weeks since we arrived in Georgetown, Bahamas. For many cruisers, this is as far as they go. Even for those who had planned on venturing further south, some decide to just stay here. It is easy to see why. With so much activity and a friendly community, it is hard to resist the temptation just to stay put.

One of the activities that we have been getting involved with almost on a daily basis is beach volleyball. We started by playing the ‘fun’ non-regulation rules games which means that 9 people are allowed to play on each team and anybody can play. There are few rules and with so many players on each team, you can almost play an entire game without touching the ball. Since Mike and I both can play fairly well, we were invited to play the more serious game of regulation 4’s. With only 4 people on each side, we have found it to be much more of a workout. We typically end up playing volleyball for 2-3 hours joining in the fun games after we’ve played with the ‘big kids’.

We have a volleyball of our own on board and if we go to the beach, we typically take it or our frisbee along to pass back and forth. A fun way to get some exercise while enjoying the beach!

As for staying in Georgetown… we will NOT be like many others who end up lingering here. Although we cannot venture further south for another couple of weeks while we accumulate charts, we are looking forward to moving on to explore new places.
