Rebecca and I really do try to live rather frugally. We seldom stay in marinas or take mooring balls unless we have to, preferring instead to anchor. We do almost all of our own maintenance unless the task is absolutely beyond us. When shopping for provisions we refuse to purchase that which is exorbitantly priced, even if we do really like the product, and while we do eat out from time to time, we try not to make a habit of it. In doing all of the above, we do not feel that we are depriving ourselves. On the contrary, I think we feel pretty blessed. We live a lifestyle that many people dream of and beyond that, special opportunities frequently present themselves to us, opportunities such as being invited to spend the day at the private* beach club, The Pavilion, at Christophe Harbour. Even though such a thing falls considerably outside of our SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), we couldn’t pass it up. After all, everyone likes to be pampered from time to time, right?

You may have read my post about Christophe Harbour the other day. After finding out that we were planning to remain in the area for the next few days, our new friend Aeneas, the gentleman who first contacted us and gave us our tour, extended an invitation to us to enjoy their facilities for the day. For the record, Aeneas is a former captain of mega yachts who has sailed all over the world. He apparently has a soft spot in his heart for us cruisers. 🙂

Anyway, while this club may not be typical in terms of the types of places that you’d normally find us frequenting, we can certainly appreciate what goes on there. The staff** were all amazing and extremely accommodating, the facility is immaculate and painstakingly well thought out and the food at the restaurant was some of the best that we have ever tasted. Did we blow our entertainment budget while there yesterday? Oh yeah! Was it worth it? As our friend Kirk would say, “without a doubt.”

Hanging out in the infinity pool. Not a bad place to spend the afternoon!

The facility is amazingly beautiful.

Chairs in the pool… good thinking!

Tervis Tumblers for cocktails!
For the record, we think these are the best boat glasses ever!

Yes, in spite of the lack of photographic evidence, I was present too.

Stretching or hamming it up?

It was a beautiful day. While we may have had the odd cloud,
not a drop of rain fell to spoil our lounging.

This is why we never get invited out to fancy places.
Rebecca insisted on doing the exercise challenge that she concocted for her fitness blog.

The outside showers, for rinsing off after the beach, or for after your workout (see above).
The REAL showers located in the locker rooms were incredible!

The view from our dinner table. Awesome? Uh, yeah!

*While the club is private, the restaurant is currently open to the public for dinner after 5:30 PM. Reservations are apparently required for non-members.

**All of the staff were great but we wanted to make a special mention about Greg. We have heard that his official tile is Pool Attendant but in our minds, he is so much more than that. His genuinely warm smile is infectious and we think that it’s genius that he is one of the first people that visitors to the Beach Club actually get to meet.
