Not long ago I suggested to Rebecca that she should put together a video montage using some of the footage that we’ve recorded in the last little while. Yesterday she put the finishing touches on her work, and uploaded it to Youtube. I think she did a fantastic job! If you do too, please let her know in the comments, and by sharing the video with your friends.

Note: Even though it took us forever to do so, we took the time to upload the video in HD. To get the best experience while watching it, make sure that you select the highest quality by clicking on the little gear/wheel symbol.

  1. Great movie! Very good video production. Did you use Gopro Studio?

  3. Very nice job with video. Thanks

  4. Good Video but the music was lame!

    • Neither of us felt that it was, and others seemed to like it. We are open to suggestions though. What royalty free music do you recommend?

      • Just something more upbeat to go with the upbeat video. It just seemed too slow but hey some like classical, some like country and that is why there is great music around.
Not complaining about video it was great.

  5. I’ve been following your blog for about a year and I love the in depth discussions of all the repairs, maintenance and improvements but it’s nice to see that it’s not ALL work! I thought the music was perfect. Great job Rebecca!

  6. Great video, loved watching it. Thanks for sharing! I will probably watch it many times over!!

  7. Very nice job Rebecca, and I liked the music. A great reminder of what we have to look forward to later this year, some familiar sights, some new ones yet to be discovered. Mike, I trust that the flag came down just after you captured that impressive sunset?

    • Embarrassingly, no, I’ll admit. On our other boats, I diligently took the ensign down at sunset, and put it back up again in the morning. I have been much less diligent on this boat.

  8. Nicely choreographed. YouTube has also had problems with some of the music that I’ve used in my videos. The issue, as I’m sure you realize – is that YouTube is trying to prevent copyrighted music from appearing in advertisement generating videos. I’ve used this site for music in one of my recent videos:

    Two comments about the content……
    1. That swimming black iguana looked like it was from the Galapagos, not the Caribbean.
    2. I wish you’d get around to painting the flag on your wind generator to CANADA and not FRANCE.

    Otherwise, I enjoyed the video.

    • As much as we’d like to overdub easily recognizable tunes that we like, these days we always use royalty free music in our videos. Thanks for that link.

      1. You’re right, that is a Galapagos Marine Iguana. There’s also land iguanas, and sea lions in the video.
      2. I like the French image on the wind genny. It gives me an excuse to anchor really close to other boats, and to run around on deck naked. 🙂

  9. Great video and music, Mike and Rebecca! I just sent the link to my wife – we’re in the planning phase of our journey. Got to sell the high schoolers first (know anyone who wants some teenagers – they work cheap)!

  10. Very nice video guys and thanks for sharing!

  11. I think the amazing times greatly outweigh the days of breakdowns and frustrations. Nice job!

I checked out the link that Wade posted, there’s some very good music on there that Darla can use for some of her future projects

  12. Is there a reason you’re changing from a multi-hull to a mono-hull?

    Thanks,

    Paul

  13. Rebecca did an amazing job creating this video! Beautiful .. and the music is perfect for this!

  14. Thanks everyone for the kind comments! I had a lot of fun editing this video and look forward to doing more. 🙂
