Countless times we’ve posted on this blog about the fun that we have had hashing in Grenada. I honestly don’t think there is any better way to make friends and really get to know the islands than to get involved with the local hash groups. As such, we were very pleased to be able to join in with an equally fun group of hashers here in Trinidad this past Saturday.

With no real idea of how to get around here, we posted on the Port of Spain Hash House Harriers (POSHHH) Facebook page that we were on the island and looking for a ride. Indicative of just how welcoming these people can be, we had not one offer of a ride but two. Early afternoon Saturday we were picked up just outside our anchorage by Pip and Harry, a couple of ex-pats here who are big into hashing. We had such a great time with them and the others in their group that we even went ahead and purchased tickets for their hash’s Christmas party which will be taking place on December 8th.

We enjoyed the trail so much we decided to run ALL OF IT, including all of the false trails!

Speaking of Christmas, the most common question these days amongst our cruising buddies is where we will be spending the holidays. Last year we spent Christmas in St. Martin with a number of our friends but we definitely won’t be that far north by then this season. Admiralty Bay, Bequia is another popular spot for cruisers to spend Christmas and so is Rodney Bay, St. Lucia. Of course, I’m sure there will be hundreds of cruisers who will simply remain put in Trinidad and Grenada. Where will we go? Great question. I guess that depends on whether we get out of Trinidad when we plan to and what the weather is like at the time. We do hope to be able to hook up with some of our buddies though.

Last year we spent Christmas morning on Maho Beach in St.Martin
with our friends Catherine and Marcus.

  1. glad to hear that you are finding some positives about Trinidad as know you weren’t excited about going there

    • Well, I was confident that the people would be nice and I know there are plenty of fun things to do on the island. It was the anchorage at Chag that I knew I would dislike. For the record, my expectations were 100% correct on that one.

Hope all is well with you kids. 🙂

  2. Well, I learned something new. WTF is a “hasher”? Isn’t smoking that stuff illegal everywhere? Then I googled it. Very cool, and it sounds like a lot of fun.
