What’s your excuse?
I would love to sail around the world but I could never afford a boat like that!
If you think that sounds like a legit excuse, think again! Due to YouTube’s power to “guess” what I would like to look at, I stumbled onto the following video(s). The really cool thing is that we know this guy! Clive Webber, the author of the videos, is one of the really helpful staff at our local chandlery, Pride Marine. I had heard that he had sailed around the world but I had no idea that he did it by “hitchhiking” from boat to boat. Way cool. He has a series of videos on both Youtube and Vimeo. I watched them all yesterday and it’s an interesting story. I highly recommend that you check out the videos and his website!
Ok. How did you know?
If you’ve read my blog, you know I attempted to ‘hitch hike’ on a sailboat this past spring. I flew down to Florida but never made it on the boat. I came home disappointed but also sure I would never attempt THAT again. But now here I am, almost a year later, and I am desperate to sail the Caribbean. And my profile is still up on one of the ‘find a crew’ sites. I was contacted a month or so ago by a boat in the Virgin Islands and we have been talking. I am seriously toying with the idea of going on this boat for a few months. But, once bitten – twice shy. So, being a woman of faith, I started praying in earnest yesterday for direction. Should I do this? I don’t know? What do You want me to do?
And then, first thing this morning, I come here and read this. Nothing I ever expected to read on your blog about getting ready to sail.
You just pushed me one BIG step closer to going.
Hi Sandra
You’ve obviously had this dream for a long time. I really do hope it works out for you this time!!!
