What is it about hair? A beautiful head of hair on someone else is considered very appealing to many people. When it’s on our own head, we play with it, stroke it, and even tease it. We also spend a lot of money to keep it healthy, clean and looking good. In fact, entire industries are based on this! When we find hair on the floor though, even when it’s almost certainly our own, it is something that most find extremely undesireable.

Based on the amount of hair cleanup that I know would be required,
this woman should have to pay extra to charter on our boat!
🙂

Why bring this up? Three reasons:

  1. We had a teenage guest recently who made a similar comment after finding her own hair on the deck.
  2. I just cleaned up some hair this morning, as I do every morning!
  3. I need a haircut. Hopefully we’ll be able to take a moment or two today for Rebecca to help me out with that.

  1. Biologically, hair is an indicator/record of our health, healthy body usually indicated by healthy looking hair and vise versa. So someone with healthy looking hair, represents someone with good/healthy mating potential. As to the playing with the hair it has 2 purposes, the hair is used to hold and distribute our pheromone scent (reason for post pubescent hair growth). So by running fingers through it, playing with and girls flipping there hair, they are both advertising their healthy looking hair and distributing their pheromone scent. It is actually party of the stages hard wired into us during courting a potential mate/partner.

  2. On our last trip to the BVI we had 4 women with long hair on board….their dark hair was everywhere. It felt like we were living in a barber shop at times. Maybe dark brown gel coat is the answer……or brush cuts for everyone!!

  3. “and now that I’ve shared this affair of the hair, I think I’ll repair to my lair and use Nair…
    do you care?”

  4. We have 3 daughters and between them and my wife, I am forever cleaning up hair. In the shower, in the bathtub, in the sinks, they even seem to get it on my toothbrush on occasion. I’ve yet to figure out that one.

As the owner of a small gym, I also seem to find hair all over the place as I’m cleaning it. I’ll be sweeping, or vacuuming, and find a few strands that seem like they have been sewn into my rubber mat flooring. I have to end up pulling each clump out one at a time…..
