Much of yesterday was spent waiting. We left the boat late in the morning to help our friend Bill deliver his rental car back to the airport. In the afternoon, we dinghied over to our friends’ house to wait for our solar panels to arrive. Although we didn’t know exactly when the UPS guy would come, we did know that our stuff was on the truck to be delivered and were afraid that because no one was home, the driver would just leave a delivery notice and take the packages back. And so we waited. In the driveway. And we waited some more. And it got cooler. And the sun was setting. And so we left, quite sad that we didn’t accomplish the solar-panel-acquisition mission. 🙁

Upon arriving back to ZTC, we fired up the internet and noted that almost immediately, the UPS tracking info had been updated to say that our packages had been dropped off at the front door. Now dark, we bundled up with even more clothes (did we mention that it’s freezing out here right now?), and headed back over to shore to get our stuff. Carrying a 5 foot long solar panel in an 8 foot dinghy probably looks a bit funny but we managed without getting anything or anyone wet. Today begins the fun part… how to install this new panel!

UPS

Bill’s son Tyler’s truck. We have heard that Tyler routinely takes this off-road so I’m sure he won’t mind the fact that we ran over a few small cars with it on the way to the airport.

Waiting in the driveway for our packages, amusing ourself with our friend Zack’s guitar.

Still waiting. A small consolation is that the 2 Ray Odor pole spears that we ordered arrived while we were there. Grouper beware!

  2. Talented young man! I love acoustic .. maybe a new star in the making!

  3. It just took seven days for a Priority Mail letter to reach my daughter. We were both freaking out, since it was a check! I talked to the postmaster today, before I knew she had gotten the letter, and he said it was the season. I think that I could have spent a lot less money and gotten the money to her faster! Don’t you just LOVE waiting for important stuff?!!!

    • To tell the truth I have always been very impressed by the Canadian postal service (I have no real experience with usps). The cost to deliver a letter is pretty cheap when you think of what must go on to deliver it. Sorry your letter took longer than you expected. As you heard, it’s probably just the season.
