OK, we’re going to take a second crack at sailing to Martinique today. Let’s hope the weather cooperates a bit more with us today to make the passage bearable if not pleasant. Because we’re leaving so early, I’m going to make you do a little bit of work to get your ZTC fix today. Don’t worry, you’ll only have to click a couple of links. πŸ™‚

Firstly, one of our most loyal blog readers, and one of the select few readers that we’ve had the pleasure of meeting in person, is Sandra Montgomery. At her request, I wrote a little Guest-Author post for her blog Sail Away or Not.

It begins like this:

“I wish I could do that” is the oft-heard battle cry of those who dream of selling out and sailing off into the sunset but, nonetheless, remain landlocked. What is it that allows some people to take that leap of faith and move forward with their dreams while others allow time to pass them by and their dreams to collect dust? As one of those in the first category, Sandra thought that perhaps I could shed some light on this subject, although I’m not so sure that I can. For my wife Rebecca and me, it really wasn’t all that difficult.

Sorry to be a tease (well, no, I’m not actually sorry) but you’ll have to visit her blog to read the rest. While you’re there, please leave a comment so that Sandra and I will know what you think of it.

The second bit of homework will give even the diehard among you your photo fix. Rebecca and I spent hours yesterday editing, uploading and tagging hundreds of photos to our Facebook page. Once again, you need not be a FB user to view these albums. They are publicly visible. Please check them out and let me know your thoughts. I’d be especially interested in knowing what your favorite pic is from our Dominica albums. Be warned, there are a lot of photos to choose from.

Have fun!

  1. I enjoy so many of the pictures, sunsets, palm trees, water falls, etc, but in this batch…THE DOGS! You got some great shots!

  2. That is a nice inspiring post on Sail Away. Have a safe sail to Martinique today.

  3. Great post Mike! I’ve been waiting for you to write something like this now that you’ve been cruising for a while and can reflect on your experiences. Our “defense” right now is our house, but as you said it can’t sell if it’s not on the market! Come hell or high water we’re gonna find the funds and the time to complete our “gutted” house and get it on the market this summer.

Very inspiring, and LOVE LOVE the Dominica pictures. That island looks stunning and full of places to explore.

  4. I just WISH I had a house to sell. I’d do it in a flash.

  5. Loved your post on Sandy’s blog, Mike! I am going to print it out and read it whenever I lose sight of our dream. Very inspirational!
