Today’s destination: Allan’s Cay, Bahamas, famous for its only inhabitants, some prehistoric-looking iguanas.

  • Chance of arrival: Near 100%
  • Chance of having a blast while there: Near 100%
  • Chance of having internet while there: Near 0%. Sorry!

Look at the survey date on that chart: 1835. The shoals there likely aren’t the same as they were yesterday, let alone in 1835!

There are rumblings of some bad weather here this weekend. If so, we may try to hide out in “The Pool” at Norman’s Cay, located a bit south of Allan’s, assuming that anchorage isn’t full of other boats. We are accepting positive vibes. 🙂

uummmumumumumm! Positive thoughts headed your way from cold and more than likely snow in N.C. Questions – how do you know these places to stay/anchor??? Seems you’re moving around rather fast . . .

Have a warm and Merry Christmas!

  2. So should I leave another comment that you’ll get too late to be helpful?
The current in that anchorage is crazy wicked. Yet it’s very protected from the wind. So be mindful of the current when anchoring (and you can only anchor around the edges as the middle is a sandbar that becomes a beach at low tide if I remember correctly. Unless you have some bottom work to do or want to scrub the hull).
We had a funny time at Allan’s drinking on a friends boat and watching our boat drag closer and closer to his all night long until we were able to step off his boat back on to ours! Whoops! A little intoxicated re-anchoring by the full moon. Ah the memories.
So excited for you all — have a blast exploring the Exumas!

  3. Good vibes sent your way! We know it’s gonna be a great day!
