It’s interesting how our returning to Hog Island yesterday felt as if we had made it back home, being greeted by a dozen cruisers and locals like we were long lost family. And weren’t we surprised to find that they were throwing a huge party for us* with live music and hundreds of people on the beach!

Just some quick shots taken in the space of about 60 seconds…

Lots of people on the beach…

The beer at Roger’s Bar was cold…

The live music was cranking…

And the smiles were huge. Nice!

*The party wasn’t really for us, but it doesn’t hurt to pretend, does it?

  1. Roger’s Bar….Thats the type of Beach Bar I want to own

    • Just so you know the details, there are ZERO services on Hog Island. Every day Roger ferries booze and ice (and on certain days, food) to the island in his little boat. I was told that the building (if you can call it that) was built by cruisers out of scrap wood. I heard that someone donated a solar panel which charges a battery but beyond that, there is no electricity. In fact, I had to go back to our boat and get some gasoline yesterday afternoon because the band’s generator ran out of fuel and the music was at a stand still. Although Roger has been running that bar for 20 years, I don’t think you could even say that he owns it in the North American sense of the word as I doubt he has title to the land.

  2. Home is where the heart is! Looks like a nice place to call home!!!

  3. Looks like our kind of place! Isn’t it nice to call it home for now?

  4. Tell Roger not to run out. I can’t wait to check it out myself! Sounds like a video to me . . . .
