Although it’s been a while since I’ve posted directly about the TRX, I can still say that it is one of the most regularly used tools on ZTC. Admittedly Rebecca is much more consistent than I am (obsessed?) but when it comes to exercising onboard, we both think that it can’t be beat. We are still questioned on a fairly frequent basis about how we stay so fit (ok, how Rebecca stays so fit). Although cruising can be a much healthier lifestyle than the commute-to-work, sit-in-a-desk-all-day and then drink-beer-with-the-boys life that many fall into back home, it still does not provide the kind of exercise that we, as athletes, were used to. The TRX does!

Here we are “TRXing” while at anchor, St. John, USVI.

Public service announcement over. We now return you to our regularly scheduled play-on-the-beach-all-day, drink-sundowners-all-evening programming. 🙂

White Bay, Jost Van Dyke, BVI.

Disclosure:Yes, if you purchase a TRX from one of the affiliate links on our site, and we hope you will, we are compensated a small amount by the manufacturer. Rest assured, we wouldn’t continue to use it ourselves if we didn’t 100% believe in it. We think you’ll love it too, in a masochistic, I-hate-Mike-and-Rebecca-for-getting-me-to-buy-this-torture-device kind of way. 😉

  1. I like those too. We were catsitting for the people at Technomadia on St. John back in March, and they had a similar strap setup there. I’m more into working out without expensive gym equipment using natural stuff and simple, portable equipment like this.

Too bad you don’t have people to roll with. You know how good a workout that is, and the trampolines look to be made for it 😀

    • Don’t have people to roll with? That’s hardly an excuse… my best training partner has always been Rebecca and vice versa. Sadly the tramp is not really big enough for anything more than a play session, which does break out from time to time. We’re still working on a solution for this though.

  2. Just a special hug to Rebecca today. I remember the year of “firsts”.
You are in my thoughts too Mike.

    Happy Mothers Day.

  3. I am looking for you on the Soggy Dollar live webcam but not spotting you! If I do I will get a screen capture and send it to you.

    • We stood in front of that cam for you for at least an entire minute… I don’t know how you could have missed us. 😉

  4. I think the TRX looks brilliant for use on a boat. It’s so easy to let the autopilot do the work and to sit, and sit, and sit, drinking, reading, and watching the world go by.

I’ve so many hand problems from years of climbing that no sort of lifting works for me. Bikes bring back good memories of my racer days and I can still keep pace with well trained youngsters (ie., those with most of their hair) most days; it’s like flying, for me. My new toy has only made it better, and it doesn’t hurt that my home is 200 feet from a wonder full paved trail 50 miles long.

Bikes aren’t going to be right for everyone. If you didn’t like them before, you won’t like them cruising.

The only time we met I was astride a bike; I do walk the talk.

The point is to do SOMETHING! The older I get, the quicker I crumple without exercise, so all you oldsters (I hit 50 in a few days, so I’m allowed to be non-PC), find something FUN!

    • Well said, Drew. We were again talking about bikes the other day, as we walked around an island. Your name came up in that conversation.

  5. Love my TRX!

Favorite exercise: Power Pull or Atomic Pushup (it’s a tie)
Least favorite: Single leg squat, without a doubt.

    • Mike:

Favorite exercise: Incline press (because it looks cool)
Least favorite: Single leg squats, without a doubt!

      Rebecca:

      Favorite exercise: Any leg exercise
      Least favorite: Incline press
