A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that we were going to be interviewed by The Sailing Podcast. The 56 minute interview is now online and it can be downloaded from their website. While my audio on the interview may be a tad muffled, it is still understandable. Please give it a listen and let us know your thoughts.

It was also just brought to my attention (thanks Stewart and Austin) that the fitness-related article that Rebecca and I co-wrote has now made it to the newsstands in Blue Water Sailing’s February issue. Please look for it and let us know what you think.

  1. Just curious Mike. Do you have a journalism background? I can’t put my finger on any specific example, but your blog reads “different” than most (and I read many) and I say that in a positive way. Your blog has a professional aspect to it. At any rate, I enjoy the reading.

  2. I just signed up for BWS – you should get a commission 🙂

  3. Hey Mike, I listen to the audio interview, and it did sound like you were talking on a phone, but I could understand you fine. It great that you did this and shared it with us. I , for one, would like to see more audio/video on your blog when you are so inclined. You could bring us along so to speak when you do one of your adventures and narrate the video…..Thanks for all your great efforts and letting us follow you on your way to becoming another sailing star.

    • lol @ star. Thanks though, Terry. I have never really considered using audio before. As for video, it’s a lot of work, and bandwidth, to implement. We filmed a very brief clip of our hike yesterday that I plan to post tomorrow. I also have a ton of really cool footage, shot on several passages, that I intend to edit into a nice video. I want the finished product to rock though so I’m taking my time with it.

      • Yes video editing takes a LOT of time… trust me! We spend nearly 2 weeks putting together one 24 minute episode of our Distant Shores Television show.

        • That does not surprise me in the least. By the way, David from the Sailing Podcast wanted to speak with you. David, meet Paul. Paul, meet David. 🙂

  4. Congratulations Mike and Rebecca….I am still amazed how you guys can write a new interesting/helpful blog post everyday…….I dont think people realize how tough it is to write one a week…..Thanks

  5. We’re at the Chicago boat show this weekend and i just picked up a copy of the magazine and said “Hey! I know her!”. Congrats Rebecca.

  6. Hi Mike,
Audio interview was clear enough and you sounded like a relaxed sailor even if you were in California at the timw. Was great to “hear” ZTC’s story!
Looking forward to reading the mag, well done Rebecca.

    • Thanks, Noreen. I wonder how long we’d have to remain in CA before we would stop being so “chilled out.” I suspect not too long!

  7. Good stuff, Mike. Just finished listening to the podcast and enjoyed putting a voice with all the text you’ve written. Keep up the good work!

  8. Greetings,
Re your great pics and video, did you know that ‘Oualichi,’ the Arawak name for St. Martin/St. Maarten island, means “land of women” for its curvaceous hills.
    John
