Since we took possession of One Love two months ago, we have had no more than a week or so at anchor. In fact, we have spent more days on the dock with One Love than we have with ZTC in the previous 3 years! As we don’t really consider ourselves marina people, you can likely imagine just how happy we were to cast off the mooring lines yesterday, leaving X-Marine’s dock to move and anchor outside St. George’s. If you can’t imagine, trust me, we were very happy!

The transition was not without a tiny bit of drama though. As we attempted to raise our nice new Mantus anchor, we found that we had snagged it on something, presumably a mooring chain. You just never know what’s on the bottom in a busy bay like that! With a bit of help from Nicholas though, we were able to free ourselves and vacate the area so that an even larger cat could take their turn on the dock.

I am happy to report that our extensive davit project is 99% done with only a tiny bit of cosmetic work to be completed on the underside of the deck. Later this morning I expect to see some of the boys from X-Marine out to visit us to complete that last bit of construction. I’ll try to post a summary of the project with some more pics in a future post.

With this large project soon to be ticked off the list, we have only to wait for our cockpit cushions to be completed and then we can look to head north. We have been told that they will be done at the end of this week so it’s not too long before we’ll be passage making again. Fun, fun fun!

  1. So they only did it on the motor side of the davits?

    • No, both sides of One Love’s davits were completely reinforced. Our friends did opt to only do the engine side though as the bow is relatively light.

  2. I am so sad you are leaving before I get there.

    That’s all I have to say. 🙁

  3. So- we have seen a lot of pictures of the shiny dog-bone shaped thing- but what it is for?

  4. The stern of One Love should now and forever mor be know and the Dog Pound! or Dog House! I’m shooting from the hip here, did you already name the Tender? How about Snoopy! Those Bone shaped supports are the Cats Meow!

  5. Looks good, how are the studs that support the underside attached to “that” piece? I didn’t realize they were only doing that to one side, but it makes sense, that’s all that’s needed. Wish I was on the hook….kinda, I haven’t done anything in 17 years, I feel like a newbie! 🙂
