Today is the first day in at least a week that I have not had an alarm clock set to wake us up. I always wake up before the alarm goes off but still, it’s nice to not have that be necessary.

After yesterday’s early-morning dinghy ride to drop a couple of friends off at the airport, we raised One Love’s anchor and left Charlotte Amalie harbor for the short trip to Buck Island (St. Thomas). There are a number of day-use mooring balls there and many of the boats which offer snorkel trips to tourists visit the bay, and for good reason. It is almost guaranteed that you will be able to swim with some turtles and fish. Although the turtles were a bit more elusive this time around when compared to our last visit, it was still great.

Following that bit of fun we motored the short distance around the airport to Brewer’s Bay, a nice quiet (minus the occasional airplane noise) anchorage. It was the perfect bay to really give our new stand up paddle boards (SUPs) a test so Rebecca and I did just that. They were cool to tour around on and I’m sure they’ll get a lot of use, both from us when we have some down time (IF we have some down time) and our guests.

  1. Somehow, I knew that would end with a win for Rebecca. 🙂

Glad to see you guys having some play time. The snorkelling pics are fantastic.

  2. Nice to read a post that doesn’t involve working. Enjoy your time off

  3. Thats a beautiful green sea turtle (or I believe, my identification skills aren’t the greatest) In total about how many sea turtles did you see this time around compared to last time. And did you visit at different times in the year?

    • I can’t recall exactly. We see quite a few turtles in our travels. This time we only saw a few. Last time there might have been half a dozen down with us. Could even be the time of day that we visited that affected the number we saw.

  4. So glad you ALL get to enjoy some relaxing, fun time after all the hard work you have been putting in! Happy for all of you! Susie

  5. Now that the ZTC I love to read about. You guys have been working your butts off. Good to see some fun!
