More blogs than you can shake a stick at!
The less-than-speedy Wi-Fi connection that I am currently borrowing was conspiring to make the process of updating our Research Page very slow this morning. I hung in there though and was at least able to make the list of blogs for Cruisers/boaters we have met in our travels a bit more current. If you’re looking for a good way to avoid working this morning (or all week for that matter — there are that many sites), visit some of the links in that group. When time and Wi-Fi allows I will update the remainder of the lists of links on that page. In the meantime, if you have a blog (that you actually update from time to time) which fits into one of those categories, please feel free to comment on this post and I’ll add it. Happy reading!
Here’s to meeting you “one day soon” – hoping you can add us to the “on our way” blog and maybe one day on the blogs of cruisers you’ve met 🙂
Done! FYI, the link to your blog that you included with this post is not quite correct. You forgot the /members part.
Mike – love the research page. Definitely one of (if not the) best out there. Thanks for keeping it updated!
You’re very welcome!
Hey Mike you just killed my work week. Thanks a lot! 😉 Actually, reading all of the blogs is a great way to learn about real world scenarios regarding the cruising life. I’ve got a little list in my head of all the to do and NOT to do when we finally leave our marina next year.
Just a “little” list? 😉
Mike, I have been blogging now since 2006 and following more sailing blogs than I should. Frankly, most cruising blogs are boring. They are mostly logs or updates for families. You have found the right balance of keeping us envious as hell about your voyage and giving some great practical advice.
I kinda think of you as the Rock and roll version of Distant Shores (maybe the reggae version).
Keep up the great work.
Adam
hehe… thanks Adam!
FYI, I added a link to your site in the bottom category of the Research page. Perhaps an oversight but I didn’t find a link to our “Rock and Roll” blog on your huge link list though. 🙂
Great resource, Mike! Feel free to add our page (www.SailFarLiveFree.com) as a cruising/sailing/planning/etc. resource.
Thanks, Kevin. I added a link to your site in the Misc. section at the bottom of the Research Page. I didn’t see a link section on your site but if there is one and you feel like reciprocating, that would be awesome.
Thanks Mike. I’ve added your site to “Our Favorite Websites” along the right-hand nav column on our webpage.
Cool. Thanks, Kevin!
Mike, you’ve got a great list of resources that we have already referred to several times. We are “on our way” and if you wouldn’t mind adding us to your list, we’d much appreciate it!
Done! 🙂
Mike,
Michele and I post about twice a week at http://followthehorizon.com
We’re in the planning stages… original plan was April 2014 but who knows if we can actually wait that long. Scott from windtraveler.net met with us yesterday and made me want to set sail tomorrow.
Dan
Thanks for the comment, Dan. I added the link.
Be careful with that Scott though. He can be a bad influence. 🙂
Mike,
Just purchased the boat last week. s/v Serenity is an IP 35 and is on Lake Erie. We have followed your blog for the last six months. Thank you for all the great information and for showing others that if you want to cruise…it can be done. We will be heading south this fall. I just started the blog and will be posting often.

I have been following your blog for about six months. Thank you for providing such useful information, as well as showing others that if you want to cruise you can make it happen. I closed on our boat last week…will be sailing south from Lake Erie this fall. I just started the blog but am really enjoying it. Again thanks!

Hi guys
Thanks for the comment. I added a link to your blog in the “getting Ready” category. Since you’ll be coming through the canals (I assume) you might find the stuff in today’s post helpful.
Mike, one site you might add to your resource list is The Boat Galley. Carolyn cruised for years but is now ashore. Her site is full of great suggestions for storage, equipment, recipes, and money/time/fuel saving tips for cooking aboard. I’ve referred to it lots of times as I’m setting our cat up for cruising.
Good suggestion, Sarah. I will add it.
Feel free to add our blog if you like…we’re in Pohnepei, Micronesia right now. We’re in the states visiting for the summer but still trying to keep the blog somewhat relevant to cruising whilen we’re away.
Consider it done, Monica. I just quickly looked at your blog before responding here (I’ll read more shortly) but I saw that you said some nice things about us. Thank you!
Hi Mike, we’re in the prep phase, getting our Catana 471 ready for a few years in the Pacific. We moved from Austin TX to Brisbane Australia where we bought our boat and have been learning to sail her. Can’t wait to take off early next year! I’ve learned a ton from your blog and really look forward to your posts. Thanks for the inspiration! Our blog is http://ZangeziAtLarge.com if you would like to add us to the list.
Fair winds,
Doug
Hi Doug.
A Catana 471 is a nice boat!
I added the link to your blog and look forward to reading about your adventures.
