Today is a bit of a milestone here as this is our 2000th post.

I spent some time thinking of all that we’ve invested into this blog. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that I put at least an hour per day into this site: researching, writing, posting and answering comments (26,349 as of this moment). If I added in the time that I spend updating our sister Facebook page, it would have to be well more than an hour per day! So, using my above logic, 2000 posts = 2000 hours.

When you do the math, 2000 hours is essentially a full-time job for a year. Has the investment in time and energy paid off for us? Without a doubt. The relationships that we have made through our blog are priceless to us, and thinking about that only makes me even more inspired to keep it up. Thank you to everyone for following along. I can’t wait to see where we are when we reach the 3000th post!

  1. How’s the Wi Fi in Patagonia?

    • We have some internet friends in the Beagle Channel posting every day. En route, perhaps less so!!! We’ll need to find a solution for that before we get there.

  2. Paul and Sheryl on Distant Shores recently used Iridium GO for their last Atlantic crossing to the Azores. It seemed to work pretty good for them.

    • I’ll have to speak with them. I know they were sending messages to someone on shore who was then posting onto their social media sites.

  3. Congratulations on 2K!

  4. purchased a GO, along with the PredictWind package, and using it on passages in the Indian Ocean. 4x Gribs to compare, routing, sat images (PredictWind are expected to get this up and going shortly). The GO apps for email, SMS, Facebook and web access (via OWepera) work fine but s l o w as expected via the satellites. But it works!

  5. Congratulations Mike and Rebecca! Thanks again for all the information you’ve so willingly shared. It has meant the world to a whole lot of us following in your footsteps.

Echoing Deb’ s comments above, thank you for inspiring and educating us to help make our own journey! Your blog has become like one of my favorite King tomes….I can’t put it down!

  7. Mike I know that writing posts as often as you do can be overwhelming some times but I know I speak for a lot of people when I say that we appreciate your discipline and willingness to share. You made so many things easier for us while we prepped for cruising through the knowledge that we gained from your experiences. You were in no way obligated to help anyone, and there are a whole lot of us who are very grateful.
