So focused on my rudder repair post yesterday morning, I missed mentioning a bit of a milestone. Yesterday, October 13th, was the seventh anniversary of our first post on this blog. Isn’t that crazy? We’ve been posting here about cruising for seven years! No wonder it takes people so long to read all of the posts* starting from the beginning.

Happy Anniversary to us!

  1. Maybe this is why you are getting the 7 year itch – to go south!

Well done and thanks for the stamina to keep the blog going. I, for one, appreciate it and enjoy it.

    Thanks

    Mike

  2. Congrats! Your dedication to the blog is commendable and the information is priceless. We are finally heading South from Florida down the Thorny Path. Hope to catch up before you leave to Patagonia as we won’t be following there! Ken. S/V Sol Searching

  3. Hard to believe that it was 7 years ago when we met and that was also the first year of my “new chip truck business”. We have both come a long way! Congratulations and many more for you two and hopefully not many more for me! lol

  4. Congratulations! Good luck on the next stage of your adventures. May we share the same anchorage someday.

  5. Happy anniversary!

It’s a great accomplishment to keep it up year after year.
Most blogs fall off after a year or two!

  6. Thank you or all the time you have spent documenting your journey. I have learned and lived from your seven years of experience since we started following you this past year.

  7. Thank you for all your information. I really appreciate all the effort you have put into your blog, you have been, and continue to be, an inspiration to me. I am less than a year away from being full time on the boat and have followed your journey with interest and anticipation for quite a few years now. I wish you and Rebecca well on your continued adventures, and I look forward to reading about them, and, as always, learning a bunch!

  8. Congrats on 7 years! 🙂

  9. Happy Anniversary from Troubadour! We are also celebrating 7 years of this incredible lifestyle. Cheers!

  10. Congrats to both of you indeed! I am sure you would agree that in those seven years the transition to the liveaboard sailing lifestyle and the manner in which you have embraced social media has forged many most interesting relationships and friendships.

We readily and fondly recall meeting you on “Volleyball Beach” while anchored out off Chat n’ Chill in the Exumas (Bahamas) back 2010. It was great catching back up with you both in Grenada in October last year.

As luck would have it we are reconnecting with Matt & Kristina (S/V Mattina – Lagoon 38) this weekend. They are dropping by our place in the Okanagan, BC. You may recall like you, Matt was a regular on the volleyball court back then.

Every success to you both then on the year/s ahead on S/V Frost.

BTW – the Blue Jays beat Texas tonight winning the opening series 3 -2. This with three straight wins after losing the opening two games to the Rangers in Toronto. Thought this might cheer you up as a couple of Canadians 🙂

  11. Thank YOU for following along, everyone! Your contributions add significant value to this blog.

  12. Mike – your prolific, informative postings over the last 7 years have been a great source of inspiration to me. I’ve followed you every step of the way. I’ve been on my own journey since June, travelling from Mass. to Florida via the Great Lakes in my old trawler. I had a plan to visit Kingston on the way but US visa problems in London (I’m a Brit) delayed me by 7 weeks. Am currently in the UP where it’s snowing, but at long last I’m heading South. I blog like you but can’t come close to your dedication and expertise. Planning to head to Grenada in May and hope that you’ll both still be there and can meet you – make sure you have plenty ‘heat’ on the boat before you head out to the cold South – I can attest to the need whilst shivering up here. Thanks for your continuing efforts. Mick

    • Hi Mick. Thanks for the nice message. We’ll definitely have heat, perhaps a couple of sources. I don’t know if we’ll be here in May but you never know. If we are, we’ll for sure have to meet up.
