Lower and slower
Having been forced to do too much shopping at delis and specialty stores, we decided to take full advantage of our friends’ hospitality and use their car to really stock up. Trader Joes, a Giant grocery store and the biggest liquor store we have ever seen were all on our go-to list. The only downside is that our boat is now sitting 2 inches lower and likely sails 2 knots slower. At least we won’t be hungry or thirsty though. 🙂
Our first visit to Trader Joes. How exciting!
We brought the car back without a scratch on it. See, you can trust cruisers. Canadian ones at least. 😉
The table is going to collapse. It took two dinghy trips to the boat to get it all back on board.
This rum is… inexpensive.
What bilges are for.
Not food but I love this stuff… single use tubes of Krazy glue. The truth is there is enough in each of them for more than one use!
i am kinda dissappointed that the can labels are not all lined up…..How long will that beer last? Week?
They were lined up perfectly and then some damn power boater came by too close and too fast.
Seriously though, we had a guy in a smallish powerboat come so close to our anchored boat this evening that he could have reached out and touched us. We both watched it, speechless!!!
I love the mix of Busch, cheap rum, and then Crystal Head vodka – awesome! BTW, we keep our Crystal Head container filled with the cheap stuff – somehow it makes the drink better than with the plastic bottle the stuff comes in :-), oh yeah I guess this serves as a warning for anyone getting drinks on our boat – sorry I already drank all the good stuff! 🙂 🙂
You have a good eye. Sir! I didn’t even mention the crystal head. That vodka, believe it or not, is not for sale in Ontario. The LLBO thinks the skull is BAD and won’t let us have it!
I was thinking today — I bet they took photos at Trader Joes… and I was right! I wanted to get some shots of your guys and your dinghy full of grocery bags, but I waddled to the foredeck to slowly and missed it.
Oh, and had I knows you were going to stock up on BUSCH of all things, I would have made you walk to the liquor store 😉 Canadians!
Why is everyone so down on Busch? I think we will do a cheap-beer-taste-test on our blog and report the findings. Who would be better judges for such a thing than a couple of Canadians?
Doesn’t the word Canadian mean “cheap beer” in the Inuit language?
🙂
I was going to make a comment about the Busch beer as well, then I realized I have probably never actually tasted one. As a matter of fact it has been years since I’ve had any beer out of a can. Hm, I think I have turned into a PNW beer snob. I will be interested in the results of your taste test since I imagine microbrews will be hard to come by once we head south!
Busch beer, now that takes me back. I haven’t had one of those since grade school ;-{)
I thought that was Schlitz 😉
$5 says Uncle Pooty is from Texas.
Right you are sir. However I grew up in OK, so it was Busch in grade school instead of my leader Robert’s Shlitz
🙂
Hey, it’s a cultural thing! And if you ever catch up to Mike & Rebecca, ask Mike for a performance of “Gringo Honeymoon”! Cheers!

LOL
Good-Day!
Ahhhhh! Memories.
TJ’s rocks!
Did you pick up some of their wasabi almonds? LOVE those!
Try the Black Toad, from Trader Joe’s. Very much like Guiness Extra Staut for 1/2 the price. I’m hooked.
I love Trader Joe’s. Great place.
But dude. Seriously.
Busch?????
Of all the beers you could get…… Busch????
Respect-o-meter is lowering rapidly.
🙂
You must be really confident that your bilges will stay dry, if you have lumber in them as well as your beer!
I’m just glad to see y’all using reusable grocery bags! Pick up some PBR next stop.
Oh god…PBR….Why not really curse him and ask him to get Black Label and Weidelman too !!
Sorry guys and gals… we are simple folk. We are happy with cheap beer and box wine, but do feel free to bring us some expensive stuff when you come to visit us on our boat. 🙂
Ah, I see you like Busch Beer! That’s what my husband drinks. Hope to see you in the future to share a few.
