Everyone reading this blog knows what a fitness nut my wife is. Rebecca has now decided to publicly document her obsession on her own fitness-related blog, StrengthPLUS. Please check it out and support her efforts there.

In the photo above Rebecca is doing an improvised “sandbag” workout using a duffle bag full of line and chain, normally tasked for our heavy-weather drogue. She can be quite creative!

Secondly, yesterday I received a message from a new friend of ours, Kathy Gleim, letting me know that she has entered a contest of some sort with the prize being a job as a dive instructor in Bali. We first met Kathy and John back in the Dismal Swamp when we rafted ZTC up to their boat, Makani. Anyway, in order for her to win this contest, she needs people to visit this page and vote for her. Also, leaving a comment on that page also nets her extra points. If you have a spare minute or two today, please give her a hand by visiting there, voting and leaving a small comment. She has promised Rebecca and I dive training in Bali should she win!

Finally, and I don’t know how I have neglected to mention this one before, but if you are interested in cruising at all, you must visit (regularly) the Inteview With A Cruiser (IWAC) project website. Each Monday Livia posts an interview with an individual/couple who has been out cruising for 2+ years and there is a ton of great info that has been shared on that site. Do check it out.

  6. […] duffel bag, which is filled with line (rope) for our drogue, makes a great substitute for a sandbag as well. Unfortunately, the zipper is seized so I could not open it to show the line. […]
