It’s fun to look back!
I’d like to start off by thanking everyone for the positive and encouraging comments yesterday, both here on this blog, and on the Zero To Cruising Facebook page. We definitely appreciate it. Sometimes it’s good to rest and reflect.
Coincidentally, while searching to see how our site was showing up in Google this morning, I stumbled across the link to the interview that we did at the 5 month point in cruising. It’s also fun to look back and reminisce, to see how far we have come, figuratively and literally.

I was listening to an ice climber giving a presentation and he was talking about how the early ice climbers had wool and leather goods and went out in the most miserable weather to challenge themselves. These trend setters had minimal gear and in most cases made their own gear! They established some of the harshest climbs that even with todays modern tech tools and Goretex people back off of and are scared shi*less. Towards the end of his talk about these guys and their stories he made a comment that has resonated with me ever since…”Commitment is way harder to come by than technology”. This has inspired me during some very scary climbs and some trying times in my life and I continue to reflect on the stories and commitment of these early climbers.
Tech is everywhere but commitment is not. You guys are committed and it’s awesome!
