The one thing that we have noticed is that tradesmen who work on yachts here all know one another. In addition to that, we’ve found that if they’re good, they’re busy. Really busy!

Take Simon for example, who has been improving One Love’s electrical system for the last three days. I had first contacted him months ago to ask if he’d be up to the task of installing our new inverter/charger when we arrived in Grenada. Even with that much lead time, we still had to wait 10 days after getting here for him to fit us into his busy schedule!

Simon cutting the hole for the remote control panel for the invert charger. He’s using a Fein MultiMaster which I have heard is a very valuable tool to have on a boat.

A couple of cruisers joked with us last night saying that they can’t get any work done on their boat because the people that they want to do the jobs keep telling them that they are all busy on One Love. 🙂

Yesterday, we had Larry from Nabela visit us to make detailed patterns for the custom cockpit cushions that we want to have him produce. The closed-cell foam for the cushions is on route to us from the US so hopefully, as soon as it arrives, he’ll fit us into his busy schedule.

  1. When you guys are finished, the boat will be the most well equipped boat around. Good for the owner to allow for all the improvements and you and Rebecca carrying them out. Nothing is ever easy.

  2. Nice to have almost bottomless pockets to spend on a boat! To do a refit on a boat like One Love it is necessary to spend the money to make her the best boat around to impress your guests… In exchange for that I’m sure the refit will bring more charters!!

What a life you two are living!!

    Thanks for daily Blog entries…

  3. As I work on my Leopard getting things ready and updated, of all the tools I have, The FEIN has been invaluable. Not cheap by any means, but it set the standard for all other similar tools to follow.

  5. We will second the vote for a Fein tool I bought it for Don for Christmas when it first came out and we have used it ever since. It’s terrific. Gets into corners, cuts, sands………on and on. Worth every penny.

  6. I run a small restoration crew working on old buildings and just a few days ago the foreman came up to me raving about this very same tool. They use it for taking apart delicate small wood trim, and for plunge cutting. Its now on the carpenters must have list apparently.
