Rebecca and I are looking forward to another weekend away. We plan to head out just after noon on route to Prinyer’s Cove in the Bay of Quinte. The weather looks to be nice today and we should have a nice westerly sail getting there.

Before we take off we have plenty of house cleaning to do though. We need to do laundry and provision, fill the water tanks and give the boat a scrub. On the subject of boat cleaning our dock neighbor Adrian recently saw us on our hands and knees scrubbing the spider goo off our decks. Have I mentioned how much I dislike spiders? He came to our rescue and offered us the use of his custom-made scrubber. As you can see in the pic below it is simply a drywall sander which has been shortened to allow the use of those green scrubbing pads. When attached to a pole it works like a charm! When I told him I had a sander like that he offered to fix it up for me. The photo below is actually the one he cut down for us. Thanks Adrian!

I have to stay away from this blog…..MIKE DO NOT USE THAT SANDER THINGY!!!
Basically what you are doing is sanding down your decks everytime you use that dumb ass thing. Green colour Scoth Brite pads are like 280 grit sand paper with grey being the finest. I use these to sand things down when I’m airbrushing. Easiest thing to do is use Fantastic or if your decks are yellowing a bit or have heavy stains use Soft Scrub with bleach. That’s as heavy as you should have to go. Boater ideas aren’t always good ideas. To wash just use a detail car wash broom, green in colour and if you have spider shit, just presoak with fantastic and then use Sunlight dish soap to wash your whole boat. Sunlight works in salt water as well and people down south shower with it cause it rinses with salt water.Gel coat repair guys love idiots…LOL

  2. Errr… I wouldn’t use anything with bleach in it either. It will yellow your gel coat (as it reacts with the UV) and it’s wicked bad for the ecosystem on which you float.
