Following in our footsteps.
Remember how I wrote that I was drooling over the Garmin Fenix watch? Well, Christmas came early to ZTC as, when Santa Carl arrived, he had one with him in his sack. People often say that they are “following in our footsteps.” Now, with this new watch in our hands, they’ll be able to do so almost literally!

While we haven’t been out on any trails yet to really give it a workout, we did give it a brief test the day before yesterday when we made our way to Mount Cinnamon to meet up with Carl. Yesterday, I spent a bit of time figuring out how to import the data from the watch into Google Earth and Google Maps and it seems to work just fine. I think this is going to be very helpful for any future hiking guides that we put out.

Very cool watch, indeed! How much data will that thing hold before downloading to Goggle Maps?

I assume it will hold a lot. It doesn’t import directly into Google Maps though. The data is first downloaded into a Garmin app on our computer and a bit of computer wizardry turns it into something that Google can import.
As a google lover, I love the google maps/earth integration. I hope to see more of those interactive maps in the coming hikes! I hope you enjoy your early Christmas gift!

Wow, this is awesome! Are there a lot of races and events like this down there? I love running races and triathlons.
I assume you meant to comment of the post about the triathlon. In Grenada they run 2 or 3 spread out over the course of the year. Rebecca participated in one here last season too. There are events on other islands as well. Getting involved with the hash runs are a great way to find out about what’s going on.
