I bet it’s a fair assumption that bloggers tend to spend a fair amount of time on the web. If you have ever visited our Research Page you would have found that there is quite a list of websites, blogs and forums that we consult. On most of these we are, at least at present, primarily lurkers. I decided to come out of hiding the other day on one of the web forums which deals with multihulls. Shortly after making my first post I was contacted by another catamaran owner who told me that he had not only seen our boat but had been anchored at Kerr Bay with us. Given that there are not that many cats on Lake Ontario (relatively speaking) I guess you tend to remember. We can back that up because not only do we remember their cat, we actually snapped a photo of it!

Sorry guys. It’s not a great photo. We didn’t have the telephoto lens out to spy on you. 🙂

On the topic of internet research I have come across so many cool things lately. On the same web forum linked above there is a discussion going on about anchoring. One of the posters was describing a method of retrieving the anchor using a float. Given that we do not have a windlass, this looks like, at least in certain conditions, it could be helpful.

Another cool blog that I have stumbled across is Boat Bits. It was there that I first read about a system for easily topping up the fluid levels in batteries. As 4 of Katana’s 8 batteries are in a very difficult to get at location this could also be very helpful, if the price is right.

Part way through writing this post we received a phone call from our friend Paul who was just about to step the mast on their boat Patti O’Paul. Their boat has been out of the water all season having the hull redone and they have just gotten it finished. I know a couple of people who will be playing hookie from work tomorrow!
