Because we had such an excellent first day at the Bubbly Pool, we just had to follow it up with a second trip. This time we learned though… the afternoon is a very popular time for visitors. Multiple high-speed power boats arrive with guests looking to experience the same things we are. So yesterday, unlike our first trip, we went there early (but after our workout of course). And just as the early bird gets the worm, we were rewarded by having the entire place to ourselves. Nice!

Following that little bit of play time, we raised anchor and motor-sailed the 3.5 miles to Tortola. Soon after anchoring in Cane Garden Bay, we went to shore looking to score some groceries. In addition to finding a pretty decent market, we also came across a Scotiabank ATM. We definitely made the right choice by opening an account with them, and with Bank of America, which also uses their insta-teller network. In our experience, they are certainly the most common.

Today we plan to head to Norman Island, just off the southern coast of Tortola. I’m pretty sure some fun times are waiting for us there!

For something new, I am going to try to list the availability of internet services in the various anchorages we stay at from now on. It should look something like this:

Anchorage: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, BVI
Internet on boat with Alfa: Yes. Free. Fairly fast and consistent.
Internet on boat without Alfa: Yes. Free. So so.
Internet on shore: NA

  1. You’ll let us all know right? When your having too much fun.

  2. Benures Bay is a great anchorage – no mooring balls! The west end has beautiful fans and lots of conch.

  3. Helen A. Spalding

That looks like so much fun!!!! Not to mention the exercise of working against the current of the water! Love it!

    • Well, I wouldn’t go so far as to call it exercise but it was fun. And if there was any workout value it was washed away completely by the Bushwackers we had to drink back at Foxy’s Taboo.
