While Deshaies, Guadeloupe is a quaint little town that many people love, the main reason that we stopped here as opposed to traveling directly to Dominica is that we wanted to re-do one of our favorite hikes. Right on the edge of town, only minutes from the dinghy dock, an amazing trek begins that will have you following an active river bed upstream to a spectacular little waterfall. Being one of our favorites, this trek is one of the ones that we featured in our Kindle* hiking guide Ready To Get Wet?. If you’re at all interested in hiking, or simply want to support our ventures, I would encourage you to forego your Starbucks coffee this morning and drink some homebrew instead so that you invest the money you saved to pick up the $2.95 book! When you do so (notice I said when and not if), please also visit the Amazon page for it and leave a review. Positive book reviews are very important for book ranking on Amazon. If enough people buy the book maybe we’ll earn enough money to buy a Starbucks coffee! 🙂

  • Don’t have a Kindle? Kindle books can be read on your computer, smartphone or tablet by downloading the free Kindle Reader application.

If you do find yourself in this area, the following are some of the sights that you can expect to see if you decide to complete this moderately challenging hike. I promise… silly acrobatics are not required!

  1. Awsome artcle Sir.

You’ve talked me in to getting kindle reader and
buying some of your publications !!!

  2. That is one serious leaf. (I wonder how much gene splicing it would take to get that plant to grow up here…. the only thing we have that covers that well is rhubarb, and it’s just not nearly as awesome.)

Off to bike Wolfe Island now (it’s thawed! it’s almost sort-of warm! the water’s way down so there might be lots of beach!)…. your little reminders to get outside are quite nice to see after being cooped up with computers all day.

  3. Quite delightful! I hope the wine tasted really good.

Rebecca’s modelling skills continue to amaze.

But that second picture down is the finest example of boulder jumping I have ever seen. Clearing that one in a single bound is very impressive! 🙂 😉
