You may have heard about the story of the whale jumping out of the water and landing on a sailboat. That is pretty much what we were imagining happening when we came across a whale “sunbathing” right in front of us. The incident took place in about 1500-2000′ of water not far from the southern coast of Mayaguana. Yes, the photo I posted earlier today was of a whale, just hanging out on the surface, enjoying the day.

  1. I always thought that that photo was photo shopped as I had never seen the second photo before.

I do believe I would have to clean out my underwear after that. :))

We read about that incident & a few questions were asked, “One was” why isn’t there any damage to the side of the boat it went on to ? As you can see in the pics, you can almost see half way along port side of it & yet it shows do damage ? I would have thought a few ton of whale coming down on any boat would do far more damage than just a broken mast ? There was also news of the owner being prosecuted for being to close to it.
Either way i bet your glad the one you seen wasn’t breaching 🙂 going back to your Fish I learnt a valuable lesson on bringing fish into an Inflatable “Some have sharp spins i had a small shark & it punctured my boat ‘end of fishing then” So i wouldn’t put any loos in the Inflatable !!
