I forgot to mention, just like a prisoner receiving a stay of execution from the governor, I have been granted a reprieve, having my ham radio exam postponed until Wednesday morning.

Truthfully, I would much rather have gotten it over and done with. I have much of this material stored only in my short-term memory. Now I am being forced to keep on studying just to keep it there! πŸ™

Because of this delay though I have now upgraded my objective from just passing the exam to getting 100%. Yes, I know… that’s being cocky. I might as well make it fun though. One obstacle in the whole getting-100%-thing is that I was told by the examiner that “there are lots of mistakes in the book” I have been studying from. WTF is that all about???

  1. As I recal, there is:
    1. The book answer;
    2. The teacher’s answer;
    3. The real world answer.
    The trick is knowing which one is the correct answer.

    • Yes, which one are they going to mark correctly. I have found two discrepancies in the book/website/question bank where the info they give conflicts with the answers they say are correct. I am going to call the examiner on both of them before I start the test and find out which answers they are going to mark correctly. The worst of it is, the “correct” answer, according to the info they give, isn’t even one of the multiple choice options! πŸ™

      Or, perhaps I am reading it wrong and/or stupid. I don’t know. hehe

    That is seriously messed up.

  3. Getting 100% isn’t hard. I did it on my novice, tech, general and advanced license exams, which tells you something about how long I’ve been a ham! I think there are only three classes now in the US, and none of them requires 20wpm code! I already passed 13wpm, and that should do me for any class license in the US! Good luck, Mike!

  4. Well – I know its a whole exercise thing always to raise your goals. But there’s a whole load of extra stress in the 100% thing, especially in the not very interesting and only-required-by-the-rules world of passing the exam. The point is to use your radio, right? So very good luck and enjoy the bit of paper when you get it!

    • Thanks. If I don’t get 100 I certainly am not going to stress about it. I am actually just messing around a bit by saying that. πŸ™‚
