Doesn’t it sound kind of crazy? That is, planning on running away to the tropics to live on a sailboat, when we have neither the money nor the skills to make it happen? That’s right, we don’t even know how to sail!!!

Yes, it does sound crazy! But just in case there are other people out there who also dream big, we are going to document our progress on how we make it happen. Stay tuned…

  1. Aha! FINALLY found the first post!
I stumbled upon your blog a few days ago and have been engrossed ever since. My husband and I are just getting into the Planning stage, and having a blast.
Thanks so much for all of the info/tips/photos/stories! We’re 3 to 4 years out, but maybe we’ll run into you guys one day.
    Happy Sailing!

    • Hi Jennifer. Thanks for the comment. I definitely hope that we do run into you out here cruising! Enjoy your preparations.

    • 3 years later (but only because I found the blog today) I found your first entry also.

I am a blog novice. How do I read the entries in order?

      Thanks

  2. I’m at the beginning stages of my dream. I too don’t know how to sail (yet). I’m actually just at the step of getting my boat operator’s licence (required in Ontario). I’m 41, separated with 4 kids. My dream is to sell my house in 10 years, and move aboard my, yet to be purchased, boat. Depending on circumstances and my urge to get sailing, it might very well happen sooner than my 10 year plan.

  3. Hello,
I came across your name and now blog, while looking into reviews for the Offshore Sailing School.
My husband and I are planning our Catamaran course in Nov. @ Scrub Island. We are hoping to follow in your path by selling our home and moving on to live aboard status! I look forward to reading all about your adventures! We do have sailing experience, owned a 34ft Hunter on the Chesapeake for few years, 6 years ago. Now thinking Cat may be way to go…..Any tips would be appreciated! Wow, just amazed you took on this adventure without any previous sailing!! Impressively Cool!

    • Hi Melissa

Welcome! I remember seeing some Offshore Sailing School boats sailing out of Scrub Island. That’s a great sailing area, and I’m sure you’ll have a great time.

As for tips, I would just suggest that you read the blog, and feel free to post questions in the comments where you see fit. I see all the comments, and will be sure to respond.
